Encyclopedia of Things We Lost Forever – Day 2: Beuys’ Grease Stain

Banksy for the Wimp: Encyclopedia of Things We Lost Forever

It was the talk in 1986. A cleaning lady did her job better than she should have and polished a bathtub that was part of an exhibition to shine. Unfortunately, the grease she took for filth was the art. The work estimated to have a value of over €400.000 was gone. Well, while Beuys’ Grease Stain made the Encyclopedia, it made it only to show that most things, even those some attribute unbelievable value to, really aren’t meant forever. Monetary value and real importance not always correlate.
