Encyclopedia of Things We Lost Forever – Day 26: We

Banksy for the Wimp: Encyclopedia of Things We Lost Forever

When the focus of humanity switch due to industrialization from small communities to large cities man had to cope with the fact of being one of thousands or even millions. We did so by putting our attention on the I with the dual goal of still recognizing our selves while sticking out of the mass.  It became even more important as a counterpoise  to mass movements like the Nazis or those in communistic regimes.

Now however the I in our society is so dominant that we lost the We. Between selfies and the beauty cult it had become an end of itself with no real results other than plastic, generic, interchangeable faces we inflationarily  call heroes. We put the I as the standard and our opinions as the law and wonder why the living together gets tough to unbearable.

Have fun today at those Thanksgiving tables and try not to kill each other.
