When the airplanes crashed into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York on 9/11 art work with an estimated value of over $100 million was lost in the rubble along with thousands of lives and the landmark piece of architecture itself. Art work lost included a tapestry by Joao Miro, a cast of Rodin’s Thinker, and a painting of Roy Lichtenstein.
