The Pyramids of Giza is a complex of ancient monuments on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. The complex includes next to other things the Great Pyramids and the massive sculpture known as the Great Sphinx. The monuments date back to c. 2.500 BC and older. In Hellenistic times Antipater of Sidon listed the Great Pyramids as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is the only Wonder still existing today. The complex is on the UN World Heritage list since 1979.
